A delegation of eleven cardinals from Africa, Latin America, the USA and Europe is meeting over these days (from April 28th to May 5th) eight heads of state and government to ask them "to keep their promises about fighting poverty". On May 4th, they will be received in audience by the Pope. The meetings, organised in preparation for the G8 in Germany (6-8 June) and the financial G7 of May 18th and 19th, are part of the international "Make aid work" campaign promoted by Cidse and Caritas internationalis. In Italy it is part of the "Prima che sia troppo tardi" campaign of Volontari nel mondo-Focsiv and Italian Caritas, in association with 16 Catholic organisations. It is not the first time a delegation of cardinals has visited political authorities to ask them to carry out initiatives against world poverty: another two visits took place before the G8 of Cologne and Gleneagles.
