This morning, the Vatican, "in an atmosphere of great friendliness, mutual understanding and good will", hosted the plenary meeting of the Holy See-Israel bilateral work committee, which "produced important progress and hope for further developments in the next few months". This was written in a release from the Vatican newsroom, which states that "the next plenary meeting will take place in Israel in early December this year, and in the meantime the Committee will keep working". The delegation of the Holy See was headed by mgr. Pietro Parolin, undersecretary for the relations with the state sof the secretariat of state, while the Israeli delegation was headed by Aaron Abramovich, general manager of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The purpose of the meeting, states the release, was "to continue the negotiations on article 10 paragraph 2 of the Fundamental Agreement between the Holy See and Israel, signed on December 30th 1993". Today’s plenary meeting was the first after a five years’ pause.
