Courses of Kurd language for the Christians fleeing from Baghdad and from the South of the country, owing to prosecutions, and sheltering in the Kurd North, trying to save themselves. The piece of news was made known by the Baghdadhope site, including the declarations by Father Rayan P. Atto, parish of the Chaldean Church of Mar Qardagh, in Erbil. "The first course has just ended", said the priest, promoting the initiative together with his Church, and in collaboration with the regional Kurd Government. "The course lasted one month, two hours and a half a day written and oral language – five days a week. Attendance was compulsory and three absences led to the exclusion of the student. As many as 16 students went through the first-level examination. They received the diploma as well as 50,000 dinars (about 40 euros), partially covering transport expenses since the course was free". The diploma is not officially acknowledged by the Kurd regional government. However, said Father Rayan Atto, "it will be useful for the curricula of the students looking for a job". Now, our intention is to repeat the initiative, maybe also including the people who have already got a basic knowledge of the language. "We are sure that courses of this kind are also morally useful. The Christians who left all their things to escape violence need to commit themselves to the construction of their future".
