ECUMENISM: MOSCOW, JUNE 11TH MEETING BETWEEN CARD. ERDO (CCEE) AND THE ORTHODOX PATRIARCHATE

The Orthodox-Catholic consultations will take place on June 11th and will be attended by the metropolitan bishop Cyril and cardinal Peter Erdo, president of the Council of the European Bishops Conferences (Ccee). It was reported today by the Russian agency Interfax. The inter-confessional meeting has been promoted by the Department for External Relations of the Patriarchate of Moscow, to discuss “The anthropological and ethical foundations of the magisterium of the Church for the building of society, human rights and the dignity of the person”. The Russian Orthodox Church will be represented by the director of the Department for External Relations, the metropolitan bishop Cyril, while Catholics will be represented, as well as by card. Erdo, by delegates of the Papal Council for Peace and Justice and the Congregation for Catholic Education. It is card. Erdo’s first official visit as the president of Ccee. The cardinal had recently expressed the wish to promote an annual Orthodox-Catholic Forum to discuss major topical issues.
