SIR EUROPA: "SOCIAL INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY". COMMISSIONER FIGEL’ LAUNCHES THE EUROPEAN YOUTH WEEK (2)

During the European Youth Week, Brussels will host, from Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th June, an event called "Youth in action!", where "young participants selected all over Europe will discuss some important points of the concept of social inclusion and diversity, such as work, the fight against discrimination, the recognition of informal learning, volunteering, proactive citizenship and the future of Europe". The meetings of the under-30s from twenty-seven EU countries and the future EU member states "will have their highlight on June 6th, with a political debate with Commissioner Jan Figel’ and delegates of other European institutions". Tuesday 5th June will be the day of the "European Youth Celebration", when prizes will be awarded to projects about social inclusion and diversity by the national agencies of the ‘Youth in Action’ program, an initiative that, with 100 thousand projects, has involved over half a million boys and girls. A special website has been opened for the Eyw2007 (www.youthweek.eu); it is run by young journalists of the European Youth Press, which also lists the 22 events planned for 3rd to 10th June in Brussels and in all the member states.
