"The precious testimony" of Madrid’s missionaries "is a breathe and a spur" to the whole diocesan community to be "more and more missionary day after day, getting out of itself with the renewed strength of the love that embraces all men". This was written in a pastoral letter by the archbishop of Madrid, card. Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, on the occasion of the Diocesan Missionary Day, "Madrid with its missionaries", falling on June 3rd. In his letter, card. Rouco Varela also mentioned the "missionary spirit" with which "the ‘Youth Mission’ was very specially lived in the last year". This is, explained the archbishop of Madrid, a "fine, no doubt daring and brave initiative”, which enabled "the hearts of thousands of young boys and girls and even children to open up to the great mission of the Church: to bring the salvation of Jesus Christ".
