Two are the "distinctive features" of Fondazione "Popolorum Progressio" for Latin America and the Caribbean that Benedict XVI wanted to highlight this morning, as he met the Board of Governors of the Trust on the occasion of its yearly meeting. The Trust was founded fifteen years ago by John Paul II to promote the mission of the Church, by supporting initiatives for the native, rural and African American populations of the Latin American and Caribbean countries. First and foremost, "the development of the populations must have, as its pastoral principle specified the Pope , a global anthropological view of the human person", an aspect, this one, that the second article of the Charter of the Trust calls "full promotion". "Full promotion explained the Holy Father considers the social and materials sides to life, as well as the announcement of faith, which gives man the full meaning of his own life". Often, added Benedict XVI, "man’s true poverty is hopelessness" and the lack of God in his life. The second distinctive feature of the Trust that the Pope praises is "the exemplarity" of its "working method", a paragon for all charities. (to be continued)
