HOLY LAND: MGR. KELLY (LIVERPOOL), A MESSAGE TO THE CHRISTIANS OF GAZA

” “Solidarity and prayer have been expressed by mgr. Patrick Kelly, archbishop of Liverpool and deputy president of the English Bishops Conference, to the Christian community of Gaza. In a letter to the parish priest of Gaza, mgr. Manuel Musallam, mgr. Kelly, who last January took to the Holy Land a group of European and US bishops of the Coordination of the Bishops Conferences in support of the Church in the Holy Land, recalls "the vibrant faith of the Christians of the Gaza Strip and reasserts his firm determination to stand by the side of our brothers of the Holy Land, in prayer and reflection". On behalf of all English Catholics, the archbishop of Liverpool writes that he has been impressed by the "contrasting images of the children of Gaza, who festively welcomed us on those days, and the scenes of violence, fear and weeping of this period. Hence his prayer, that "God’s peace" may descend onto "our brothers in Christ" who are in Gaza.” “
