"In the authoritative tradition of the Church went on card. Erdö , this is embodied by the intellect, by free will and by the immortality of our soul". Human dignity, explained the cardinal, "does not diminish even when a human being cannot effectively use all of his faculties. So the human foetus, the child, the sick person, the dying man, also have full human dignity". According to the cardinal, honour and respect can grow or even go lost, "while the fundamental dignity never goes lost": so, "dying in a worthy manner does not mean, for instance, necessarily dying without suffering". In fact, "when Christians feel embarrassed and remain silent in many circumstances, when the objective good of man, of society, of the families would demand that we share our Christian belief with all the world, such an attitude can be a sign of uncertainty or shyness". Therefore, "especially the men of culture and science, if they are Christians, have a fascinating bent for and the uneasy duty of speaking, of ordering the temporal truths according to the Gospel, as the Second Vatican Council says". At the end of Mass, the cardinal invited them to continue their cultural commitment, making it more and more "effective and qualified".
