An opportunity "to strengthen those links of friendship and brotherhood which men are able to maintain with so much difficulty": the Archbishop of Udine, Msgr. Pietro Brollo, showed the believers of the diocese the 2007 round of the "pilgrimage of the three peoples", an initiative which has involved the pilgrims of the Italian dioceses of Udine and Gorizia, of the Slovenian ones in Ljubljana, Maribor and Koper, and of the Austrian ones in Klagenfurt and Graz for 26 years. Every year, one of the involved dioceses hosts the pilgrims: this year, it will be the turn of the Austrian diocese in Klagenfurt. The subject of the pilgrimage, which is taking place on 23rd June, will be: "Meeting Jesus". "This year wrote Msgr. Brollo the meeting of the three peoples happens quite in advance with respect to the August expiry of the previous years. As a matter of fact, the bishop of Klagenfurt invites us in Millstatt on 23rd June. It is an enchanting place between the mountains and the lake, also interesting for its Benedictine abbey, established in the eleventh century, one of the most famous spiritual and cultural centres of Carinthia, where we shall meet". ” “In 2006, the "pilgrimage" was hosted by the diocese of Udine. The location of the meeting was the Lussari Sanctuary. Subject: "Mary, witnessing God’s love". It was a return to the origins. The initiative actually began at the Lussari Sanctuary in 1981, by intuition of the then archbishop of Udine, Msgr. Alfredo Battisti. "Friulians, Slovenians and Carinthians explains the diocese of Udine met to give new energy to their common Christian roots, anticipating the end of the cold war and the fall of the borders through united Europe".” “
