THE HOLY SEE: DOCUMENT, "REJECT UNACCEPTABLE VIEWS" ABOUT THE CHURCH "TO CONTINUE ECUMENICAL DIALOGUE"

"Recall the Catholic doctrine about the Church in a clear way", which, "apart from rejecting unacceptable views, still widespread within the very Catholic world, gives us precious clues for continuing ecumenical dialogue, too. And ecumenical dialogue is actually one of the priorities of the Catholic Church". It is the new document of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith: "Answers to questions concerning a few aspects about the doctrine of the Church", made known today by the Vatican Press Room. The text – 16 pages, made up of five topics with questions and answers – was meant "to recall the real meaning of a few interventions by the Ministry in relation to ecclesiology, because sound theological research must not be spoilt by mistakes and ambiguities", in such a way as to respond to "wrong interpretations", "deviations and inaccuracies". The starting point is the dogmatic constitution Lumen Gentium and the council decrees on ecumenism (Unitatis Redintegratio) and Oriental Churches (Orientalium Ecclesiarum), as well as the "developments and instructions for the standard procedure" described by Paul VI in Ecclesiam Suam, and by John Paul II in Ut Unum Sint. And there are also "precise definitions and admonitions", more recent than the very Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, such as those in Dominus Iesus.
