Benedict XVI authorised the publication of the final document of the V General Conference of the Latin American and Caribbean Bishops Conference, which met from 13 to 31 May in Aparecida (Brazil), in a letter to the Bishops, signed on 29 June and published today by the Vatican Newsroom. The Pope is particularly pleased about the Latin American Bishops’ wish to create a "Continental Mission" in every Bishops Conference and in every diocese. In the document, writes Benedict XVI, "there are many appropriate pastoral suggestions, justified by rich reflections in the light of the faith and the current social context. Among them, I particularly appreciated the words that exhort one to give priority to the Eucharist and the observance of the Day of the Lord in the pastoral programs, as well as the words that express a desire to strengthen the Christian education of the faithful in general and the pastoral workers in particular". The final document, of 136 pages, is available at www.celam.info.
