According to the Ccr Report on electricity consumption, any one household in the 25 member states consumes on average over 4 thousand Kwh per year: "such consumption could be 800 kWh less per household per year, nearly 20% less electricity consumed by each household, if all of the EU member states were determined in giving incentives for replacing the existing electric appliances and equipment and if all incandescent lamps were gradually disposed of". In addition, the report states that such rise in consumption is also associated "with a widespread use of traditional electric appliances, such as dishwashers, tumble driers, air conditioning units and computers"; this is aggravated by "the introduction of consumer electronics and ICT appliances, such as decoders, DVD players, broadband equipment and wireless telephones". Other "important factors to be kept in mind include the rising number of households with two or three similar appliances, especially TVs and refrigerators/freezers", and "the general rise in the number of one-family households".
