TRADE OF HUMAN BEINGS: AICCRE AND ODG, "NO TO STEREOTYPES, CHANGE THE WORDS TO TALK ABOUT IT"

"Changing the words that papers and TVs use to define the trade of human beings and using instead a correct terminology": this is the appeal made today in Rome by Aiccre (the Italian Association of the Council of Municipalities and Regions of Europe, which gathers 4000 bodies in Italy) along with the Press association, the press trade union Fnsi, the social secretariat of the Italian Broadcasting Corporation and the Department for equal rights and opportunities, as they presented to the press the document "Guidelines on the treatment of information regarding the trade of human beings", developed by the Equal project "Tratta no". The initiative covers a number of actions at different levels to have an impact on public opinion, from training in the journalists’ schools to commercials and information campaigns, through to meetings with publishers and the monitoring of the actual implementation of such "Guidelines".
