SIR EUROPE: MSGR. CREPALDI ("VAN THUÂN" WATCHDOG) IF ABORTION WINS, "LIFE WILL REMAIN DUMB"

"If one can no longer understand that life is a duty and a vocation, then it is very difficult to be able to read the other situations of life, personal and community life, as a duty and a vocation. Everything becomes patrician, claiming rights without duties". Those words were written by Msgr. Giampaolo Crepaldi, president of the International Watchdog on the social doctrine of the Church, "Card. Van Thuân", on the current number of the bulletin of the Watchdog, dedicated to the problem of respect for life being born, and in particular, to the question of abortion in Germany, Slovakia and Poland. "I think – went on the bishop – that one of today’s biggest problems is exactly this inability to see one’s human nature, one’s sexual identity, one’s children, wife or husband, one’s work and one’s cultural identity as a vocation, that is, a project on us, a project questioning us, asking us to be open and to get responsibilities, to welcome life and the project". According to the Watchdog, "the subject of life is strategic for the construction of a human society". "Without the free acceptance of what does not depend on us, in origin, but needs us to reach its goal – concluded Msgr. Crepaldi, – nothing else is no longer talking to us; the things and the people no longer reveal an order, and life remains dumb".
