SIR EUROPE: SPAIN, OVER FIVE THOUSAND YOUNG PEOPLE IN AUDIENCE WITH THE POPE ON AUGUST 9TH

Over five thousand young people from the whole archdiocese of Madrid are going on a pilgrimage to Rome on August 3rd, to be received by the Pope at Castelgandolfo on August 9th. The pilgrimage is meant for the young people from 15 to 35 years of age in the ecclesiastic Province of Madrid (which includes Alcalá, Castrense, Getafe and Madrid), and it is set up by the Diocesan Delegation of childhood and youth, within the "Young Mission", started in 2006. "We want to live this pilgrimage with the spirit of St. James", was the suggestion addressed to the young by the archbishop of Madrid, Card. Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, who also invited boys to look for "apostolic encouragement and light, stimulating us to go on with the mission, in the Successor of Peter", by relying also on Madrilenian families to testify "Jesus Christ among our young". The "Young Mission" is actually meant to announce Jesus to all today’s boys in the diocese of Madrid, especially to the farthest from faith and from the ecclesial community, "with the aim of letting them meet Him, producing a free and responsible faith response". The boys committed themselves on the front line in the "Young Mission". They are the first witnesses of Christ with the people of the same age.
