"We are faced with a problem of freedom: the parents’ freedom before the government’s interference". Benigno Blanco, president of the Spanish Family Forum, declared that yesterday, in relation to the new "Education to Citizenship" subject, which would be introduced from the next school year. According to Blanco, it is not true, as the government would like us believe, that "the contents of Education to Citizenship are the mere teachings of the Spanish Constitution, the functioning of a democratic regime, and human rights". On the other hand, "the contents of the new subject exceed the limits of the Constitution and interfere with the sector of the formation of the moral conscience of the pupils". On commenting the contents of the royal decree establishing the new subject, that is, it has "an ethical dimension" and its purpose is letting the pupil become able of creating "their own system of values", Blanco says: "Therefore, when they want to present the subject as though it was mere education to constitutional values and human rights, the representatives and the official and unofficial spokespeople of the ministry won’t cheat us". For the president of the Spanish Family Forum, "the purpose of this subject is much more important than the one pointed out by these fake and cheating statements" by the representatives of the government.
