This evening, 9 pm, in Rome, there will be the "National Demonstration against exodus and the persecution of Christians in the Middle East, for religious freedom in the world", promoted by initiative of the vice director of Corriere della Sera, Magdi Allam. The persecutions and the serious difficulties which the Christians in the Middle East have been suffering for long, fostered the journalist (a Muslim) to fix a date "for life, dignity and freedom of the Christians, and for the redemption of the whole human civilization". In this respect, a site was created: www.salviamoicristiani.com, in which it is possible to join the demonstration. Religious authorities, political authorities and exponents of the civil society have already joined it. Yesterday, Msgr. Leonardo Sandri, prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches said (with reference to the Christians in the Middle East) that "everything cooperates for goodness: therefore, everything you do to be able to help these brothers of ours must be fostered, even though it is not officially done by us". Camillo Ruini also supported this concept. Through SIR, Msgr. Shlemon Warduni also thanked everybody for the demonstration. Warduni is the auxiliary bishop of Baghdad. And in the last few days, the French bishops had also expressed solidarity for the Christians in the Middle East, especially in Iraq.
