” “"I think the time has come to convene all partners for an exchange of ideas and to strengthen this policy": Benita Ferrero-Waldner, commissioner for external relations, presented today the first meeting of ministers and delegates of all the countries which apply the EU’s European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). The international conference will take place in Brussels on September 3rd and will focus on "Working together. Strengthening the European Neighbourhood Policy". In the morning, "a session will be held with all ministers to focus on the opportunities offered by the deregulation of trade and mobility as well as the challenges of climate change and energy security". The afternoon session "will extend the debate to other parties, such as the delegates of the business associations and non-governmental organisations". The meeting will be opened by José Manuel Barroso, president of the Executive, by Luis Amado, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal and president on duty of the EU Council, and by Ferrero-Waldner.
