BENEDICT XVI IN AUSTRIA: VIENNA CAN BOOST "THE PENETRATION OF TRADITIONAL VALUES"” “” “

"The search for mutual understanding and the creative development of ever-new ways to boost trust between men and peoples should inspire the national and international policies of this country". It was said by Benedict XVI, during the leave-taking ceremony at the international airport of Wien/Schwechat, at the end of his apostolic journey in Austria for the 850th anniversary of the Sanctuary of Mariazell. "Vienna – commented the Pope –, in the spirit of its historical experience and its location in the lively centre of Europe, can make its contribution by boosting the penetration of the traditional values of the Continent, imbued with Christian faith, in the European institutions and in the sphere of the promotion of international, intercultural and inter-religious relations". After thanking everyone for the success of his trip, the Holy Father, in taking leave, entrusted "the present and the future of this country to the intercession of the Mother of the Grace of Mariazell, the Magna Mater Austriae, and to all the saints and the blessed souls of Austria".
