SIBIU–EEA3: FINAL MESSAGE, "THERE’S NO ALTERNATIVE TO DIALOGUE NOWADAYS" (2)

” “The fourth recommendation asks the Churches to "take care of the appeals of the young, the elderly, the ethnical minorities, the disabled". This section also contains an "appeal to the European states", to "do all they can to guarantee legal immigration, and the social inclusion of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers". Point 5 recommends to the Churches to consider Christian migrants not the "simple recipients of religious care", but an active part "in the life of the Church and society". The last recommendations concern the commitment of the Christians to peace, justice and the protection of the Creation. "We refuse war as a tool to solve conflicts, for which we advocate the use of non-violent means, and we express deep concern for military rearmament. Violence and terrorism in the name of religion are a denial of religion!" Then, the Churches exhort all European Christians to support "with all their strength the United Nations Millennium Development Objectives as an urgent, factual measure to alleviate poverty". Finally, as to the ecological efforts, they recommend to devote the period from 1st September to 4th October to praying for the protection of the Creation.” “
