EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAY: FREE ADMISSION TO THE VATICAN MUSEUMS

Next Sunday, September 30th, admission to the Vatican Museums will be free all day. This is the way in which the Holy See will join, again, the celebration of the "European Heritage Days", an event promoted by the Council of Europe in over 40 countries across the Continent. "Europe, a common heritage: its Christian roots" is the subject of the Day, which has been developed in conjunction with the Papal Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church, the Vatican Museums and the Papal Commission for Sacred Archaeology. As well as the Vatican Museums – stated the Vatican Newsroom –, free admission will be granted on the same day to all of Rome’s Catacombs normally open to the public. For the occasion, a photographic exhibition will be opened on September 29th (until October 30th) about: "The Catacombs of Rome: a privileged destination for the pilgrims of Europe", at the Catacomb of St. Callisto, West Window (Via Appia Antica, 110; open 10am to 5pm; closed on Wednesdays).
