SIR EUROPA: MGR. FEIGE (GERMAN BISHOPS), AFTER SIBIU "WE KEEP WALKING TOGETHER"

The Aee3 "has been an important forum to bring together Christians of different Churches and traditions of the East and West. We have all partaken of a walk of learning and experience which must go on". It was said at Fulda yesterday, during the plenary meeting of the German Bishops, by mgr. Gerhard Feige (Magdeburg), who expressed the positive judgement of the Bishops Conference on the recent European Ecumenical Assembly of Sibiu. The meeting, he added, "is not the end of a walk, but a step" of the "common" building of Europe by the Christians. Feige highlighted that "the ecumenical lines of conflict" have come to the fore "even during the assembly, but, despite that, we keep walking together". The Bishop said that the Bishops Conference intends to take inspiration from some aspects of the meeting for the Ecumenical Day of the Churches due in Munich in 2010 and announced that a common meeting of the Catholic and Protestant delegates who had attended the Sibiu meeting has been planned in Kassel on November 10th in order to jointly take stock of the Aee and outline the future ecumenical work.
