WYD 2008: LITURGICAL MUSIC WILL BE COMPOSED BY A JUDGE OF THE SUPREME COURT

A judge of the Supreme Court of Australia is the musician selected by the organisers of the WYD of Sidney (15-20 July 2008) to compose the liturgical music of what is considered the greatest youth event that will ever happen in Australia. His name is George Palmer and his pen will produce the notes that will accompany Mass at the WYD, including the last Mass with Benedict XVI. Justice Palmer’s music arrangement is called "Benedictus qui venit". "It will be a mix of Latin and English, in a simple form, suitable to be played in a parish church", explains the liturgy director at Sidney 2008, father Peter Williams. The Justice’s music, especially the last Mass, a 300-voice choir, will be played by the Orchestra of young Australians, plus two solo singers, tenor Andrei Goodwin and soprano Amelia Farrugia.
