BENEDICT XVI: "TAKING CARE OF VOCATIONS INVOLVES THE WHOLE CHURCH"

” “"On one hand, in some parts of the world, vocations are increasing, but on the other hand, their number is decreasing elsewhere, above all, in the West". Those words were spoken by the Pope. In his speech to the participants in the Plenary Assembly of the Congregation for Catholic education, he also dealt with the subject "taking care of vocations", which "involves the whole ecclesial community: bishops, priests, consecrated, as well as families and parishes". Therefore, here is the usefulness of the document on the presbyterial ministry vocation, which the above-mentioned Congregation is preparing. "The formation of future priests – said Benedict XVI – will have to guarantee useful orientation and guidance, to dialogue with contemporary cultures", by matching "human and cultural formation" with spiritual formation, in a context in which "the atmosphere of the society, with the massive influence of media, and with the increasing globalization phenomenon, has deeply changed". Therefore, here is the need for contribution by "modern sciences", because "a few social destabilizing factors which are present in the world, today" – such as "the conditions of lots of separated families, educational crisis, widespread violence" – "make the new generations fragile". Only "an adequate formation to spiritual life", concluded the Pope, renders "Christian communities, and in particular, parishes, capable of meeting the spiritualism needs coming especially from youth". ” “
