To the international community and the European Union, the leaders of the Churches of Jerusalem ask to "do something and not waste time when human lives are in danger", while they ask to the Palestinian authorities "to put an end to divisions for the sake of their people in Gaza. Put aside all differences reads the appeal and show you care for the fate of your brothers and sisters, who have already suffered enough". They included a warning to the parties involved in the launching of the Qassam rockets – "as long as you keep launching rockets onto Israel, you will encourage public opinion outside this land to believe there’s a reason for this siege" and to Israel they ask to "act responsibly to stop the siege. Denying children and civilians their indispensable commodities is not a way to create security; on the contrary, it just aggravates the situation. The siege will not ensure rocket launching will end, but will increase suffering and the need for revenge". "Let’s pray conclude the leaders of the Churches of Jerusalem for the day when the people of Gaza will be free of occupation, political divisions and violence. Let’s pray for Israelis and Palestinians to respect human life and do all they can to put an end to this suffering". (dnr)” “
