ECUMENISM: PATRIARCHATE OF MOSCOW, THE STUDY ON PRIMACY IN THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH HAS BEGUN (2)

So, the Theological Commission met in late December under the supervision of the Metropolitan Bishop Filaret of Minsk. The bishop Markdi Yegoryevsk updated the Commission on the activity carried out by the workgroup that is investigating the issue of primacy in the universal Church, while the Department for Foreign Relations of the Patriarchate of Moscow submitted a report about the problem of primacy in intra-Orthodox and inter-Christian dialogue. "In the light of what has been heard – reads the report from Europaica –, the Theological Commission identified the subjects that should be further discussed and has planned a work-plan for the development of a document that will express the position of the Patriarchate of Moscow on primacy in the universal Church". During the meeting, the Commission also worked at a document of the Joint Commission for Lutheran-Orthodox Theological dialogue, called "The Mystery of the Church: the Holy Eucharist in the life of the Church", which will be submitted to the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church for approval.
