IRAQ: BOMBS WON’T STOP CHRISTIANS

The bombs will not stop the Christians. Despite being one of the churches damaged by the attacks of the morning of January 6th, the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George, in Baghdad, the afternoon just after the terrorist attack, was overcrowded again for Mass, officiated by the parish priest, father Yunan Yacoub. The news is given by the website Ankawa.com, relayed by Baghdadhope, which says: "this, more than the words of these last few days, is a clear sign of the determination of the Christian Iraqis to resist the pressure of those who would like to purge the country of their presence". But, while the Christian population is fear-stricken again in Baghdad and Mosul, a "different atmosphere has been breathed in Kirkuk, where a new conference hall has been opened in the Chaldeian diocese. The tape was cut by mgr. Andreas Sana, emeritus bishop of the city, in front of the current archbishop, mgr. Luis Sako. The hall, which is modern and high-tech, including an Internet connection, will host meetings, workshops and conferences". The website ankawa.com shows pictures of the churches that were bombed in Mosul on January 6th: the boundary walls have been destroyed, the windows have been blown off, the furnishings have been damaged, remains of the crib are scattered on the floor, the wardrobes have been blown up. Some shots also show the remains of the car bombs used by the terrorists.
