(From our correspondent SirEuropa in Esztergom Hungary ) – It is now clear that to oppose "partial and inadequate visions" of the Christian faith and of the human values themselves "we must have a deep interaction with the communication system." This can be obtained by maintaining "a discrete and influential presence inside the various organs of the media: newspapers, radio stations, television, web." This is what the president of the Italian Bishops’ Conference (CEI), Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, said this afternoon at the plenary assembly of the European Bishops’ Conferences in Hungary. He referred to the experience of the Italian Catholic Church in the field of the media. The CEI president spoke about the newspaper ‘Avvenire’ which is a central point of reference for both the lay and catholic world". He reminded that the SIR (Religious Information Service) has been operating for ‘twenty years’ and has now open to a "European dimension’." In particular, the Cardinal stressed the fact that SirEuropa is "serving the European Churches" with its network of collaborators and its daily reportages and twice-weekly analyses published online in Italian and English. Then he mentioned the Church is present via ‘satellite broadcast’ thanks to Sat2000 and In Blu radio.
