(From SirEuropa correspondent in Esztrgom Hungary) "Having one single European school of Catholic journalism; developing a powerful Europe-wide Catholic station; creating a databank of TV and/or radio programmes; having a data, news and doctrine unit": these are some of the suggestions shown by the European survey promoted by the Council of European Bishops Conferences (Ccee) at the Bishops Conferences on "The Church and the media". This morning, the survey was illustrated to the participants in the Ccee plenary meeting, under way in Esztergom (Hungary), by mgr. Jean-Michel di Falco Leandri, bishop of Gap and Embrun, and president of the European Bishops Commission for the media (Ceem). According to the prelate, the survey also shows the need to "create a network of Catholics who can write about any issue (each one according to one’s expertise) and circulate their translated texts"; as well as offer support to journalists "by creating an online multilingual dictionary of the technical terms of the Church" and promoting "courses in different languages on a European scale". In addition, it would be important to create "a network of diocesan media operators in Europe". (continued)
