Along with doubts concerning the latest research, such as the induced pluripotent stem cells (Ips), there are, according to Zollitsch, "more recent developments in Europe which give cause for further concerns". They include the amendment of May 2008 approved by the British Lower House "giving researchers the possibility to artificially produce human, animal and vegetal beings in future, the so-called hybrids or chimeras, by cloning, thus sidestepping the problem of the lack of female human egg cells for stem cell research. In addition, Great Britain will give permission in future to produce the so-called "saviour sisters/brothers", that is, children who have to offer the stem cells required to treat an older sister or brother who is ill".
