SPAIN: MADRID, SYMPOSIUM ON "MIGRATIONS AND CHRISTIAN COMMITMENT"

The subject of the symposium taking place in Madrid on October 24th and 25th will be migrations and the following commitment of the Christians in this field. The symposium is promoted by the Diocesan Delegation for Migrations in collaboration with the delegation of the Workers’ Pastoral, Caritas, the Secular Apostolate, the Justice and Peace Commission, HOAC (Hermandad Obrera de Acción Católica – Catholic Action Workers’ Brotherhood) and the Council of laymen. Msgr. Fidel Herráez will open the meeting on October 24tgh. Msgr. Fidel Herráez is the auxiliary bishop of Madrid. Several aspects are going to be taken into consideration during the symposium: from the current situation of immigration in Spain and in Madrid to the commitment with immigrants, "a duty for the parish community which is typical of its institutional mission", from immigration policies during economic crisis to the dignity of the immigrating worker. Finally, there will be a report on the subject "No-one will be a stranger to you, the social teaching of the Church".
