“The Synod is becoming an important time for ecumenical dialogue”. Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, archbishop of Cape Coast (Ghana) and president of the association of the Bishops’ Conferences of Western Africa said that this morning, at the Vatican, during the press conference. “The recent gestures of the agreement for the versions of the Bible and the gift of the multilingual Bible are certainly encouraging such dialogue. In the world, there are lots of countries with Catholic, Evangelical and Reformed communities, where common work groups have been set up for such translations of the Bible”. According to Card. Odilo Pedro Cherer, archbishop of Saint Paul in Brazil, too, “the fact that experts of Holy Scriptures from different Christian faiths are working together on projects of translation will foster the overcoming of construing difficulties. On a popular level he added later on, an important task which the Church has to perform is to encourage common reading of the Bible with the Protestant and Evangelical Churches, so as to encourage live contacts between believers”.” “
