CCEE: MGR. FRANCK (LUXEMBOURG), "A POWERFUL CULT OF DEATH IN EUROPE"

(From our correspondent SirEuropa in Esztergom – Hungary) In Europe the calls for a "culture of life are giving way to the powerful culture of death." When it comes to euthanasia, "even some Christians are convinced of the goodness of a position that is claiming absolute self-determination and paying no consideration to the defence of human dignity." This is clear in Luxembourg, where the parliament is passing a bill to enact a law on euthanasia. This is what Mgr. Fernand Franck said to the presidents of the European Bishops’ Conferences gathered in a plenary assembly in Esztergom (Hungary). "Today we have to acknowledge that euthanasia supporters are taking position in the public debate to fight their cultural cause," said the Archbishop. Nevertheless, the Archbishop pointed out that in the public debate on euthanasia there are "at least four contradictions." "It seems that the right to euthanasia is given to patients but actually the rights of doctors are strengthen and extended." ” ” ” “
