"For over 50 years, the name of Joseph Ratzinger has been associated with a unique general view of systematic theology". It was said this morning by mgr. Gerhard Ludwig Müller, bishop of Regensburg (Germany), during the press conference for the presentation of the 1st volume of the "Opera Omnia" by Joseph Ratzinger – Benedict XVI, in the German edition published by Herder Verlag. The press conference was hosted by Aula Giovanni Paolo II, in the Vatican Newsroom. Pope Raztinger’s writings, commented mgr. Müller, "combine a scientific knowledge of theology with the figure of a lively experience of faith. As a science that finds its true place within the Church, theology can point out the true calling of man as a creature and image of God". Benedict XVI has always been able to borrow from his knowledge of the history of theology and dogmas, "emphasising the divine view of man, on which everything is based. It becomes accessible to the many, through the lexical and linguistic repertoire used by Joseph Ratzinger". Thus, "complex topics are not conditional on a complicated reflection and then subtracted from common understanding, but actually they are made transparent in their deep straightforwardness".
