"Non-violence is not merely a tactical behaviour, but is the attitude of one who, as the Pope put it, ‘is so convinced of the love and strength of God that he is not afraid to face evil armed with just the weapons of love and truth’," said Cardinal Tauran. "Loving one’s enemy constitutes the nucleus of the love revolution, a love that is not based on human skills but is a gift from God." Non-violence is supported by a number of other religions. Non-violence is central to our faith as a way of promoting the truth, the light, mutual respect, freedom and harmony. "As religious leaders, we are called to assert the truth of our respective religions, to take action, to promote non-violence among our followers and to promote it in their actions. Let us make all the possible effort to promote the sacredness of human life, the well-being of the poor and the week who are among us, and let us cooperate through dialogue to ensure the dignity of every human being is respected regardless of the colour of their skin, their caste, their religion or their social class." We, Hindus and Christians, especially nowadays, let us be conquered by a boundless love, by the conviction that non-violence is the only way to build a more compassionate global society which is more equal and sensitive to people’s needs," ended Cardinal Tauran.
