The Word renews consecrated life, they highlighted, but consecrated life too renews the Church, through the apostolate of the Word, some examples of which are Rome’s Istituto Biblico or the Franciscan Institute of Jerusalem. The Word must challenge and convert the mind and the will, and it is like a part singing, in which tradition meets preaching, but the announcement must be more credible and must be proposed with new accents. The assembly expressed a concern for the risk of arbitrary interpretations of the Bible by some exegetes and some media, with special reference to some films about Biblical subjects, as well as to non-scientific publications that can puzzle priests themselves. Africa and Latin America warned about the dangers of the cults and the "false doctors" and against the risk of fundamentalist interpretations of the Scriptures. It has been explained that in Latin America some preaching is so weak that over the last 40 years the Catholic Church has lost 15% of its congregation, even if it still accounts for 43% of the worldwide Catholic Church.
