With the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defence (Brussels, 10-11 November), the European Union is getting ready to deal with a number of "emergencies" and international summits that have been planned for the next few days. The heads of the diplomacies "will prepare the meeting of the European Council next December by looking at a draft agenda" which will include the Lisbon Treaty, the climate-energy package, the economic recession. In addition, they will deal with the situation in Congo and Iraq as well as the EU-Russia summit, due in Nice on November 14th (Georgia, bilateral partnership agreement, energy supplies). They will also discuss the G20 due in Washington on November 15th. Then, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs will be joined by the Defence Ministers to deal with civilian and military operations abroad. Finally, as explained by the French Presidency, "they will review the situation in Bosnia Herzegovina and in Afghanistan", in the presence of the Secretary General of NATO. Then, the Ministers for Development will meet to discuss the long-term response of the EU to the food crisis and prepare the UN Conference on the funding to development, due in Doha, Qatar, from November 29th to December 3rd.” “
