On the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Diocesan Church on November 16, the Spanish Bishops’ Conference advertised the continuation, for the second year, of the communication campaign "Xtantos" whose aim is to make public the allocation of funds the Church receives from citizens in order to get more "x", that is having more people signing in for the Church in the income tax return forms. The campaign was created in 2007 in the wake of the agreement signed between the Church and the Spanish government in December 2006 which established a new system for allocating funds to the Catholic Church in Spain that will now only depend on the Catholics and those people who appreciate the work of the Church. For this year, the campaign has created: three new TV commercials to highlight the Church’s social commitment, its help to people in need, in or outside Spain, and its spiritual guidance; 20 short radio commercials; and some banners to be published on Internet. The website of the campaign for the economic support of the Church, www.portantos.es, has been completely renewed.
