From November 25th to 28th, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) will host the third World Congress against the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. The event is organised by the Brazilian Government, Ecpat International and Unicef. The Congress will focus on five points: "forms and new scenario", i.e. trade for sexual exploitation, exploitation of children and adolescents in prostitution and sexual tourism, paedophilia and child pornography; cyber-crime and new technology; "legal frameworks and obstacles", i.e. reform of the law on sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, implementation of the Optional protocol, impunity and accountability, special investigation procedures; "inter-sector and integrated action plans" which means the development of inter-sector public policies, cooperation between different governmental levels, integration with the judiciary system, the role of training agencies; "initiatives of social responsibility", i.e. the private-sector market and its rules, the role of global funding systems and new initiatives for the promotion of human rights, good market practices; "international cooperation strategies", i.e. multilateral and regional mechanisms against the sexual exploitation of children.
