IRAQ: ART. 50, WARDUNI (BAGHDAD), "THEY WANT US TO BE EXPELLED FROM THE COUNTRY AND THE WORLD KEEPS SILENT" (2)

"Today we have celebrated in Baghdad the first Inter-Religious Congress of Iraq," said Mgr Warduni. "It was attended by the Prime Minister Al Maliki and by Christian, Shiite and Sunni representatives. In our delegation there were 5 Bishops and 25 priests. In that occasion, I wanted to recall that it is necessary, for all, that human rights are respected through reconciliation, forgiveness and love. The article 50, as it was passed today, is infringing our rights. This is why I asked for the old version to be kept. Then this sad law was passed. At this point, it is better for us to have nothing at all than a few seats. It is a question of human rights. Ours is not a life. But we are still praying God and trusting in Him."
