St Paul’s teachings give emphasis to "the fact of resurrection, without whom Christian life will be nothing but absurd." So spoke the Pope at today’s general audience explaining extempore St Paul’s doctrine of justification according to which "we are justified by Christ’s death and resurrection." "The whole teaching of St Paul move from there to the mystery of he whom the Father raised from the dead," continued Benedict XVI extempore. In St Paul, "resurrection is a fundamental fact, almost a basic axiom," but "his innovative Christology is never in contrast with tradition." In this perspective, St Paul’s theology "is a model for future times." In fact, a theologian "does not create new visions of life and the world. It is a servant of transmitted truth, of the real fact of the Cross and Resurrection of Christ. His task is to make us understand, beyond the words, the reality of God with us and, likewise, the reality of true life". (continued)
