The married family is "a union between a man and a woman", "a unity of love that gives life, an indissoluble relationship, open to life". With these words, the Catholic and Orthodox Churches define the family in the "Document of Trento", a 7-page text (released today by Ccee in Italian), that has been approved and signed at the end of the first Catholic-Orthodox Forum, which from 11th to 14th December brought to Levico Terme (Trento, Italy) 30 delegates of the Orthodox Churches, the Bishops Conferences and Vthe atican Ministries to reflect on "the family: an asset for mankind". In the document, the Catholic and Orthodox Churches express a concern: "There’s an attack going on to change the language and introduce elements of ambiguity in the international documents through the ideological introduction of the gender theory". "Our appeal to the political and social leaders states the document is the following: the family is not an outdated notion! If aptly rediscovered, it represents its future". Without mutual love within the family, our society would die". The Catholic and Orthodox Churches also ask the public institutions for wages policies that "are consistent with setting up and keeping a family in a dignified way", which means "tax regulations that acknowledge the family’s essential contribution to society".” “
