Still according to Eurobarometer, 37% of EU citizens "think the economic situation is one of the two most important issues which their countries must face" today. On the other hand, the three most important indicators of general attitudes with respect to the European Union remain unchanged, that is, support to the fact of being members of the Community, the advantages perceived as EU citizens, and the overall reliability of the European Union. "Trust in European institutions pointed out the researches of Eurobarometer – is also quite unchanged": the Commission is appreciated by 47% of the interviewed, the Parliament by 51%, and the Central Bank by 48%. However, there is "a slight increase in the trend to diminish trust". Furthermore, as for the conflict in Georgia, "the Union is regarded by 26% of citizens as the player which played one of the most significant roles in putting an end to the conflict, and 60% of them believe that such conflict might have had an impact on energy supply safety" in the 27 Member States of the European Union. Finally, "about one half of citizens (48%) think that the extension strengthened the European Union, and two thirds believe that the Fall of the Berlin Wall was a positive fact" for the Union.
