"A Europe without frontiers": the four key freedoms guaranteed by the EU (circulation of people, capitals, goods and services) are the focus of the motto chosen by the current Czech presidency, which will take over from the French presidency on January 1st. "We symbolically would add a fifth one explains Prague’s Prime Minister, Mirek Topolanek -, i.e. the free circulation of information and knowledge". Just before taking over the presidency, the Prime Minister explains that "preparations for the event have gone on for two years". "The big priorities of the Czech Republic he adds can be summed up as the three Es: Economy, Energy, Europe and the world". The future president of the European Council recalls that the details of the six months’ agenda have not been disclosed yet, "out of respect for the current presidency"; however, such agenda will reflect that part of the 18-month calendar that had been agreed with the French Government and with the Swedish one, which will take over in the second half of 2009. The first official meeting of this six months’ tenure is the one of January 7th with the EU Commission.
