The Eurostat survey about the use of the Internet within the European Union then explored the methods and purposes for which the web is used at home (the interviewees, explain the researchers of the statistics office, were aged between 16 and 74). "About one third of the interviewees – they explain – use the Internet for travelling or to book hotels"; "one third use the Internet for online banking". Roughly the same number of people have contacted public services or have searched the web for health information. "One quarter of users have searched the web for news", by reading the web pages of the newspapers. One quarter of users have made bookings or shopping online". Finally, "just 15% of people have been looking for a job through the web".
