60% of European households have an Internet connection, while 48% of users have broadband technology. These figures refer to the first quarter of 2008, while in the same period of 2007 they stopped at 54 and 42%, respectively. Eurostat, the EU’s Statistics Office, published the results of a survey on the use of computer technology in the 27 member states plus Norway, Croatia and Iceland. Overall, these results show a relentless rise in the number of computers and websites, even if national situations differ widely. Also in 2008, it seems in some countries over 75% of households have an Internet connection: these are the Netherlands (the highest rate, 86%), Sweden (84%), Denmark, Luxembourg and Germany.
