ECUMENISM: FIRST CATHOLIC-ORTHODOX FORUM ON FAMILY IN TRENT

"Family: a good for humanity." This is the theme of the first Catholic-Orthodox forum, organised by the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE) in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Trent, which is to be held in Trent from 11 to 14 December. From next Thursday, 7 experts from all European Orthodox Churches, 7 Catholics from Bishops’ Conferences and 3 experts from the Vatican dicastery will focus on the theme of family. In particular – as written in a statement by CCEE – the forum will focus on the theological aspect (family in the project of creation); on the juridical-cultural aspect (with a debate on the concept of family in international and national legislation); on topical issues: family and marriage, migration and family, family and education, generational ties, family involvement in politics, economics and other social processes, religious education and formation in a family or school environment. According to Cardinal Erdõ, "it is because of the historical and cultural changes that have occurred over the last decades, which called us to bear a common witness to our Christian values, that "came the opportunity to create a Catholic-Orthodox forum in Europe to discuss themes of common interest together, namely pastoral care. ” ” ” ” ” “
