BENEDICT XVI: TO SEMINARIANS, "THE NECESSARY ADVENTURE" OF BEING PRIESTS

” “"Even if priestly life may seem to be uninteresting for the majority of people, in fact it is the most interesting and most necessary adventure for the world, the adventure of showing and giving visibility to the fullness of life everyone longs for". It was said today by the Pope, as he met the seminarians of Collegio Capranica, along with their parents and families, for the traditional Feast of Madonna della Fiducia. The one of the priest, Benedict XVI immediately specified, "is a very exacting adventure; and it couldn’t be otherwise, because the priest is called to imitate Jesus". Then to the parents the Pope said: "You are probably the most amazed for what happened and is happening in your children. Perhaps you had imagined for them a different mission from the one they are getting ready for now". This is because, explained the Pope, "it is inevitable that the children’s calling somehow becomes the parents’ calling too. In trying to understand them and following them in the process, you too, dear fathers and mothers, have often been involved in a process in which your faith has got stronger and newer. You found you were partaking of the wonderful adventure of your children". ” “
