February 18th will mark the beginning of the Week of solidarity and union with the Church and population of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The week is promoted by the Croatian Caritas and aims at raising funds and raising public awareness of the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The campaign is now in its second year, since it was established on 22nd January 2007 during the joint plenary session of the Bishops Conferences of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. During Lent, the Croatian devotees can give their contribution, which will be collected on 24th February, the third Sunday of Lent. Such funds will be allocated to social assistance and educational schemes and subsidies to small companies. Financial support to the Catholics in Bosnia-Herzegovina is not everything: during the week, during the liturgical celebrations and the devotions, one can include the prayer for the Bosnian Church as an intention. In preparation to the Week of solidarity, the director of the Croatian Caritas, mgr. Josip Mrzljak, sent a letter to the parish priests of Croatia to encourage them to join and participate in the event.
